OUR FAVOURITE CAFE SPOTS AROUND FALMOUTH

Updated: Dec 11

Falmouth is fortunate to have a large and great selection of independent cafes. At Rowes Retreats we're always on the lookout for new places to stop for a coffee and a cake, whether its in town or on the beachfront, we have you covered for the best spots. Our 'research evenings' are a dirty job but someone has to do it! In this post you'll find our favourites which you may not have heard of. So whether you're a fellow Falmouth local or coming down to visit soon, put your feet up and have a browse, you may find your new go to coffee from our list of cafe spots around Falmouth!

SABZI - TOWN CENTRE

Sabzi cafe in Falmouth Cornwall

I’m a big coffee drinker so I take my cafe recommendations seriously. I would say everyone has got their own preferences, but a good cup of coffee is a good cup of coffee. My top spot has got to go to Sabzi, based in the centre of town overlooking the Harbour. The coffee is so smooth, and you can tell care is taken to make each cup just right, no burnt milk here! They also have an amazing selection of small dishes, all Middle Eastern inspired. The menu also changes daily so it’s always a new mix of homemade locally sourced options. Their fresh fruit juice is pressed to order and is also a must in my opinion, the options do change seasonally but it’s a firm favourite.

OGGIES

This is another go to of ours, the service is great every time and the coffee is amazing. They also have a good selection of loose teas. The pasties here are the best in Falmouth, high praise I know but give them a go and you’ll see what I mean!

ESPRESSINI

Espressini Cafe Falmouth

Falmouth locals will know a coffee shop list wouldn’t be compete without Espressini. Such a cosy boutique setting you’ll feel instantly at home here. An amazing selection of freshly baked goods and their menu board is diverse, with breakfast options like ‘the journeyman’ but you also can’t go wrong with some hash browns served with the most divine tapenade.

BEACON COFFEE

If you’re exploring Falmouth’s charming high street and feel the need for an exceptional coffee stop, Beacon Coffee should be at the top of your list. This specialty coffee house is known for serving some of the best brews in town, with beans sourced from top UK and European roasters and expertly prepared by baristas who are always happy to talk you through flavour notes. Guests love their perfectly steamed cappuccinos, flat whites and filter brews, and there’s a tempting selection of cakes and pastries to match — from rich brownies to seasonal bakes that pair beautifully with a hot drink. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee on the go or settling in to relax and watch the world go by, Beacon’s warm, friendly vibe and quality cups make it a favourite among locals and visitors alike

DARK PONY

For a coffee experience with a stylish, laid-back feel, Dark Pony Coffee on The Moor is a must-visit. This Falmouth favourite has quickly earned a reputation for its excellent espresso drinks, beautifully poured lattes and a constantly rotating selection of guest roasters, meaning there’s often something new to try. We can’t praise the relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and tempting pastries, cakes and sourdough toasties enough — perfect for a mid-morning pick-me-up or casual brunch stop. With its welcoming interior and location close to shops and coastal sights, Dark Pony is a great place to soak up local life while savouring a coffee that’s been crafted with care.

Whenever I’m out exploring or taking a slow morning by the coast, I’m always reminded of how many lovely cafe spots around Falmouth there are to enjoy. So, whether you’re grabbing a flat white to start the day or settling in for an afternoon treat, each café offers its own warmth, flavour and sense of community. I hope these recommendations help you discover a new favourite on your next visit, and that each stop adds a little extra joy to your time here on the Cornish coast.
